Online Community Event: Eco-Psychology and Mountain Leadership
Mountain and Alpine leaders! Are you interested in eco-psychology and want to bring more nature connection into the outdoor activities you lead? This one’s for you!
This month we have a mountain theme, with special guest Max Calligola, an Alpine Mountain guide and eco-psychology practitioner. Max will share his experience of bringing eco-psychology and nature connection into the work he does. Caroline Schofield, our co-founder, will also share some of the theory and practice behind eco-psychology and nature connection. As you know, Guided by Nature is based in Eryri (Snowdonia) so we’re all about the mountains here!
We’ll start the session by sharing an eco-psychological perspective on nature connection because at its heart, nature connection is eco-psychological. We’ll explain why we believe nature connection is important to outdoor experiences. And we’ll discuss some interesting facts from the latest research into nature connection and its benefits.
During the session you’ll have the chance to hear about our experience in bringing nature connection into outdoor activities. We’ll use breakout rooms so that you can explore some of the barriers to nature connection during outdoor activities with your peers. You’ll leave with a unique take-away and options for further training. Bonus: the session will end at 7.30 but we'll stay on for half an hour for group discussion and networking!
This is suitable for people who work in outdoor recreation in the mountains, but is also transferable to all outdoor activities and education.
A Guided by Nature Community Event
Community Events are our way of giving back to our local community and caring for our environment. We give our time freely and request that you make a small charitable donation to North Wales Wildlife Trust, registered charity number 230772. Your donation will be passed on in full, minus card processing fees of about 28p per £5 donation. You can still attend a Community Event if you can’t make a donation; please let us know by email before you book.
